Our solution is simple and straight-forward.
We believe that expanded transparency starts with greater access to financial data. We are currently working with key stakeholders to make budgetary information more accessible and comprehensible for students. Stay tuned for release.
Students want their voices to be heard and thus, there needs to be a system that engages students from top to bottom. We believe that there should be six non-voting student members on the Board of Trustees. There would be two students each on the following Committees:
The students who sit on these committees hold their roles for transparency purposes only. They would have no voting power, but would be required to write briefs based on the quarterly meetings with their respective committees. The Student Association would publish these briefs for the general student body to read.
By having these student positions, GW students will take ownership and responsibility of university finances in conjunction with administration. The goal is to have students be a part of the process from step one.
These student positions would be a one-year commitment and each could be elected through the annual Student Association Joint Elections Committee election process. Any current GW student, undergraduate or graduate, would be able to run for these positions.
